Day 97: apricot skies

Leaving the house this morning the sun is emitting weak sunshine straining to shine through the naked branches against the palest of apricot skies. Nothing nearly to warn shepherds about, just a rosy glow hopefully signalling the beginning of a fine Spring day.

Day 96: stand-by blossom

My favourite neighbourhood tree hadn't blossomed yet this year. But other trees are earlier to bloom and a hanging branch could be zoomed in on courtesy of a close-up filter. It'll be a few more weeks before I'll have to duck under the heavy canopy of pink blossom from the local cherry tree, but for now this will suffice.

Day 95: Another mystery plant

I'm not sure what this is but the sometimes yellow, sometimes purpley star-shaped centres of the little green trumpets catch my eye.

Day 94: an unfurling

Sometimes it's just the smallest of things that catches my eye. Today it is the tippy top of a stem with a tiny leaf bud just beginning to unfurl.

Day 93: blue orchid

The reception on our floor has been sporting vivid blue orchids recently. They coordinate well with the logo and decor so I'd admire the choice. From my very slight knowledge of blue orchids I think blue dye was introduced to the burgeoning blood as I suspect it too electric to be natural. Flowers that are called blue are often more purple or softer, like a bluebell.

At least I can capture the hothouse flowers at our reception as the flowers on our main reception are a no go zone. I'm not positive why cameras are banned, the normal excuse is worry about recording our security systems or possibly other visitors but really I'm only interested in the flora. But security will be security.

Day 92: turning the house upside-down

I haven't felt so inclined until after the rain, as both me and my camera are not crazy about getting soaked. I'm stalking the local hedges armed with stacked close-up filters and narrowed eyes seeking a perfect raindrop. Not the most pristine specimen but I rather like my neighbour's inverted house reflected in the tiny almost sphere.

Day 91: pigeon post

I had an appointment which necessitated a later commute this morning, so joy of joys, considerably less passengers to jostle with. However, it transpires that some of the local pigeon population have taken to tube travel, rather than use their wings. Possibly Richmond pigeons are too posh to fly. That could mean I still might have to fight for a seat, but with a bird instead.
